First Waterversity Cohort Graduates

The first Waterversity cohort ended with a 100% graduation rate and we are very proud of our graduates! The attendees enjoyed their experience and learned about a lesser-known way to gain living-wage employment in the sciences. The graduates finished their Operator in Training course, which qualifies them to apply for jobs in 20+ states, with salaries starting around $50k a year! We want to give a big shout out to the program director and RAIN board member Will Hausa for having the vision for this program and implementing it effectively. We also want to thank Katie Condit and Workforce Central for embracing our vision and bringing Waterversity to those looking for new career opportunities https://workforce-central.org/. In January 2022 we will begin marketing for the next cohort of students who are looking to start a new, exciting, and well paid career in the sciences!

RAIN to Host In Person and Virtual Tours/Interviews

RAIN Incubator will be hosting interactive tours to engage with our supporters. Attendees can expect delicious food made by Jan Parker Cookery, an insight into RAIN's various programs and projects, and an amazing presentation style aided by our good friends at Landmark AV. You can also expect a live virtual presentation where we will sit down with RAIN members and employees to do a deep dive into what is going on in RAIN and how you can get involved. We are excited to open our doors again to the public, whether you are there in person or choose to remain digital!

The Gift of RAIN Fundraising Event

RAIN Incubator is collaborating with Downtown Tacoma Partnership and Courthouse Square for the Tacoma Haul Crawl. We are bringing food via Urban Kitchen and entertainment through Kowchsurferz Anonymous in order to raise money for RAIN’s current operations and projects. For those who are unfamiliar, Downtown Tacoma Partnership is your go to source for all things Tacoma. Courthouse Square is a historic building in Tacoma that hosts events, rents space, and collaborates with community members. We are beyond thrilled to be working with these establishments as we all have one goal in mind, to help make Tacoma great! Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more information surrounding this event coming to you in December.

COVID Heading into Fall Season

As we head into the fall and winter months, we want to make sure our community is keeping up its vigilance against the virus. Testing at RAIN has picked up the last couple months as we see a variety of people coming into our facility. Our observations have been showing that vaccinated people have had less severe responses to the virus than those who are not. With that said, RAIN is doing our part by offering affordable testing to the community, tracing infection levels using sewage testing, and offering antibody tests on a regular basis. We do agree that getting the shot is still your best way to avoid serious illness, so if you need information on where to get one, or why to get one, please contact us so we can assist you in the process!
